Absolutely Need to Know
Please take the time to read these pages!
Make sure the company you choose will do a great job for you.
How you will pick the best company depends on you asking the right questions.
1. HOW DO I KNOW WHICH COMPANY TO CHOOSE?
Make sure the company which you are considering has the most hands-on experience, the most knowledge of the industry and that they utilize the best trucking companies, handling various routes, carrying the proper insurance etc. Also make sure that they have the required U.S. Government license and the required surety bond. Please check with the Better Business Bureau and/or The Chamber of Commerce in their area. If you have the time, check with the Federal Highway Administration to make sure the company really has a valid and current brokers license (in their own name) as well as a valid and current surety bond on file with the Federal Highway Administration. For your convenience their phone number is provided: 202-358-7000.
Most importantly, make sure that the company which you are considering puts your needs first! Make sure they have the willingness, desire, flexibility and ability to work hard and smart to make your shipping experience pleasant, stress-free and the best one you will ever have! Make sure the company really cares! Ask a lot of questions! See IF you get the right answers.

a copy of which is on file with the FHWA.
- We know shipping very well!
Hard moves are easy for us! Handling oversized autos and non-operational vehicles are easy for us! Even difficult routes can be handled!
- We are professional, knowledgeable and refreshingly honest.
You will always get a truthful answer from us. We won't lie to get your order! We won't pass the buckeither. We will inform you regarding the status of your shipment whenever you want.
2. HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?
Once your order has been placed with us, your vehicle shipment will be scheduled for dispatch as soon as possible to the date(s) which you have requested on your shipping order form. We will establish a tracking file for your shipment. Then we choose the best trucking company to haul your vehicle nearest the date which you have chosen. We have literally hundreds of great trucking companies who haul for us. After a trucking company has been assigned to your vehicle you will get a call either from the truck driver himself or from the trucking company to schedule an exact pickup or delivery time and day. Please remember that you need to make yourself reasonably available at any time for pickup or delivery, at a convenient and safe place.
3. HOW MUCH NOTICE IS NEEDED?
We would like to have as much notice as possible regarding your preferred transports dates. This helps to insure you that we can schedule your vehicle(s) within the time frame which you requested. We will gladly accept your order for shipment with as little notice as you have to give us. But the more notice we have, the better. Please be assured that we will give you great service no matter how early or late you book with us.
4. WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF BOOKING EARLY?
If you want to be assured of the best possible service, please try to BOOK AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE! WE SUGGEST THAT YOU BOOK BY PHONE OR ONLINE FOR OUR FASTEST SERVICE! The more notice we have, the better the job we will be able to do for you. Inform us as soon as you think you are going to ship, whether or not you have confirmed your order. That way we will be anticipating your order and can start to make arrangements early. Even though you may not have an exact date for shipment yet, please give us the earliest possible date that you may be shipping, even if you need to move the vehicle at a later date. If you can't give us a lot of notice, that's OK, we will still give you great service.
5. WHEN WILL MY VEHICLE BE PICKED UP OR DELIVERED?
Trucking companies generally want a 3 day window to schedule the pickup or delivery of your vehicle(s). As your pickup or delivery date gets closer, you will receive a confirmation call from the trucker who will be hauling your vehicle or the trucking company dispatcher, giving you a very specific date and time frame when they will be there to pickup or delivery the vehicle(s). Please try to accommodate the driver as best you can.
6. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Normal transit time varies depending on where your vehicle is shipped. For example, a Coast-to-Coast move is usually delivered within 7 to12 days once the car is on the truck. A move up or down the East Coast or West Coast could be 3-7 days. A move from the Midwest to either the East Coast or West Coast is approximately 5-7 days. The actual time for your delivery may vary due to the actual route taken by the trucker caused by bad weather conditions, road conditions and even driver illness and fatigue or mechanical breakdown. The transit time referenced above is just an estimate. In many cases transit times may actually take less time. Please keep this time frame in mind when planning your vehicle transport.
Please remember that no company can offer a guaranteed day or time for delivery or pickup of your vehicle for the reasons above. If this happens to you, beware! Some companies will regularly do this to get your order---you then will just end up waiting and waiting---angry and frustrated that you were mislead! Still no car and no idea of when you will be seeing it again!
7. WHAT KIND OF TRUCK WILL TRANSPORT MY VEHICLE?
In most cases, your vehicle(s) will be transported on an 8 or 10-vehicle hauler, the same type of trucks used to deliver most new vehicles from factories to local dealerships. These trucks are 75 to 80 feet long and are almost 14 feet high! Therefore, they are very hard to maneuver and are restricted in some areas. Also any overhanging trees or low clearance bridges are unsafe for vehicles loaded on the top of the rack. Please keep these factors in mind when directing the truck to your home or pick-up/delivery location. Make sure there is room!
8. ABOUT OUR TRUCKERS?
Most of our truckers have hauled for us for quite awhile. They have a good track record with us. Others have been referred to us by other trucking companies. If a new trucking company wants to haul vehicles for us we make sure that it is properly licensed with the U.S. Government and that the company has an adequate amount of insurance on its equipment (as required by the U.S. Government), and we check their references.. This assures us that you are covered in the unlikely event that there is any damage done while in transit. We also check their references with other brokers and trucking companies to make sure that they have a good track record and are not a fly-by-night company or renegade trucker.
9. WHAT DOES DOOR-TO-DOOR SERVICE REALLY MEAN?
This means that the trucker will get as close as possible to your actual address for pickup or delivery of your vehicle. This may be in front of your house or at a large parking lot close to you. The reasons for a different site are as follows: The truck and trailer are approximately 75-80 feet long! The trucker needs another 50 feet for ramps and loading. Also, people tend to stop and watch the process out of curiosity when a vehicle is being loaded or unloaded. This tends to be very dangerous especially when they pull over to watch. This puts both your vehicle and the driver in danger. Also huge trucks are not easy to maneuver in tight areas. The trucks are 14 feet tall! Many problems can be created due to utility wires as well as overhanging tree branches. These hazards can damage top-loaded vehicles so this needs to be avoided at any cost. The driver will call you before pickup and delivery to discuss with you the best possible place to load or unload your vehicle--a place that is best for everyone involved. You may want to have a parking lot or very large area picked out beforehand.
10. CAN I PUT PERSONAL ITEMS IN THE VEHICLE?
If you were to place things in the vehicle and the auto was loaded on the low rack, it might be cause for a break in and damage done to your car to get to these items. Your items are not be covered by the truckers insurance. They might not be covered by your insurance. Please check. Vehicle transporters are not licensed to transport personal belongings, as they do not have a household goods transportation license issued by the Federal Government. So, if a company says no problem when you ask about putting some things in the truck, question them immediately about the legality of it. Don't let any broker tells you its O.K. to load the whole car. They are NOT doing you a favor. They are saying this just to get the order. You may end up suffering the consequences of a break in and loss of property!
11. HOW DOES THE INSURANCE WORK?
The trucking company provides the insurance for your shipment as required by the Federal Highway Administration. Make sure that no matter whom you choose, that they tell you this. If a broker tells you that they are fully insured to ship your vehicle they are flat-out lying to you. It is the trucking company that is fully insured, not them, because the broker ! The broker is not insuring your shipment. They may allude to being fully insured, when in fact, they are not! Its just another trick to get your shipment! During the pickup and drop-off of your vehicle the truck driver will complete a detailed physical inspection of the vehicle and a bill of lading, both of which you must sign and acknowledge. This same inspection will be presented upon delivery, so that you can re-inspect the vehicle for any discrepancies. If any damage did occur during transit, please be sure to note it on the bill of lading at the time of delivery and have the driver sign in agreement. If the trucker does not have a bill of lading for you to sign, please do not release the vehicle and call us immediately while the driver is still there. No claims will be honored by the trucking company if the damage is not noted at the time of delivery and acknowledged by the driver.
12. IS THE COMPANY LICENSED TO SHIP YOUR VEHICLES?
All brokers must be licensed with the Federal Highway Administration. Make sure the company which you are considering has their own license and that they are NOT operating under someone elses license. If they are, watch out! This is a major red flag. It usually means they cannot get a license for many reasons!
13. WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?
As a deposit to confirm your order we accept checks (mailed in or by telephone) and most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). Usually a minimum deposit is required to initiate the transporting process. The balance due is C.O.D. This amount is due at the time your vehicle(s) is delivered. No other form of payment will be accepted upon delivery. Ultimately you will need to pay the freight charges in full when your vehicle(s) is delivered. You cannot withhold or deduct monies from the C.O.D. amount due in order to cover any damages which may have occurred while your vehicle was transported. All claims are handled separately once the trucking company has received the signed bill of lading noting the damages and payment.
